I fell in love with the simple ease of wrap dresses a la Diane Von Furstenberg years ago. I think they embody chicness and are something I imagine every French woman has in her closet. A black wrap dress is the epitome of laid-back elegance when paired with a red lip and a ballet flat and can be dressed up with a pair of patent pumps or strappy sandals.
I’d never tried a more casual approach to wrap dresses but when I saw this lovely pink maternity wrap dress from Australian label Maive & Bo, I felt like it was a must purchase. I felt so pretty in pink wearing this dress around Old City. It was so fun shooting this look on Elfreth’s Alley, the nation’s oldest street that dates back to 1702! It’s so incredibly charming and definitely one of my favorite places in Philadelphia. I paired the look with this heirloom-worthy clutch and these on-trend tassel earrings to keep it from feeling overly precious. I wear these neutral suede pumps with pretty much everything but I think they will be going into retirement until after the baby is born – no more heels for this mama for a little while!
Although I typically stick to neutrals and stripes with the occasional bolder floral pattern in my non-maternity wardrobe, something about expecting a little girl has me wearing more feminine florals and silhouettes. I wore this maternity wrap dress to a bridal shower a few weekends ago and am now convinced wrap dresses will be a part of my wardrobe long after this baby is born.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite feminine wrap dresses for spring and summer for your shopping pleasure. I love that they can be worn just as easily to the farmer’s market as an outdoor summer wedding when paired with the right accessories.
