Style Me Pretty has been an incredible source of inspiration for me as I plan our wedding. I have found so many amazing vendors through their Little Black Book and I have so much confidence going into our wedding because I have been able to see the beautifully curated events in their beautiful blog posts. After I saw our engagement photos, styled by yours truly and photographed by the insanely talented Annamarie Akins, I knew I wanted to submit them to SMP. It was so exciting to see our photos go live on their site just in time for Valentine’s Day! Head over to Style Me Pretty’s Southeast Blog for a peak into our romantic day in DC.
I styled our picnic using antiques sourced from various antique shops in Chestnut Hill, where we currently reside, and incorporated soft colors through out the shoot to match the spring flower backdrop. We love to dine so a picnic felt apropos for our shoot. I think incorporating something we love to do made the day feel really natural and organic. Neither of us knew what to expect going into the shoot and we were both surprised at how fun and easy it was to stroll through our old hometown (with the exception of wearing my Stuart Weitzman sandals on Eastern Market’s brick sidewalks, which I do not recommend).
For our outfits, I wanted to keep the colors simple, fresh, and solid. I knew I wanted a more laid back, bohemian feel for our picnic and a dressier, urban look for wandering through the city. My advice would be to wear clothes you are comfortable in from every angle, keep your heels at a reasonable height, and make sure you have a fresh manicure!
